What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a method of treatment used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for hundreds of years. Acupuncture uses specialised needles which are inserted into the skin at specific points of the body to relieve pain and stimulate energy flow. Zen Clinic uses only high quality disposable needles to ensure your safety and peace of mind. TCM theory believes the body has specific lines called meridians and that by stimulating particular points along these channels, energetic balance is restored. That is, any type of pain or condition can be seen as a block in the flow of energy at certain points. By stimulating points which relate to particular organs or areas of the body, pain is relieved and the body is encouraged to heal itself. Acupuncture is particularly effective and highly recommended by Zen Clinic for stubborn, chronic or recurring conditions. This is because Acupuncture focuses on treating the ‘root cause’ of a problem or condition, rather than just treating the symptoms. The idea is, if we can encourage the body to restore its own natural balance, pain or problems are less likely to recur and may be cured completely. Our Clients find Acupuncture can cause them to feel like they are floating and brings about a feeling of peaceful calm and deep relaxation. Especially those clients who begin very anxious about if their Acupuncture will be painful are more often than not amazed at how good they feel during and following the treatment, with many pleasantly surprised at the lack of pain and not even noticing the needles have been inserted.
